Card Deck Paper Options

Different card deck styles call for different types of cardstock. For example, for game cards, we recommend 310 gsm / 114 lb black core paper or 300 gsm / 110 lb premium cardstock with varnish on both sides. If you're printing tarot cards, 350 gsm / 129 lb premium cardstock is ideal. For children's flash cards, two sheets of 350 gsm / 129 lb C1S paper glued together provide extra durability. Below are the most common paper options for creating card decks:

  • 300 gsm / 110 lb premium cardstock
  • 350 gsm / 129 lb premium cardstock
  • 310 gsm / 114 lb black core paper
  • two sheets of 300 gsm / 110 lb C1S glued together
  • two sheets of 350 gsm / 129 lb C1S glued together

Surface Finishes

Depending on the style of your card deck, you can choose from a variety of surface finishes. If you're a magician, let us know about any special designs you need. We can also enhance your deck with extra features, such as:

Beyond these finishes, you can opt for rounded or square corners to complete your custom card deck.

Custom Card Deck Sizes

We use die-cutting to make our cards. This involves making a cutting mold. We have the following size molds always in our stock:

2.50-inches-x-3.50-inches card
2.50" x 3.50"
3-inches-x-4-inches card
3.00" x 4.00"
2.76 inches x 4.76 inches card
2.76" x 4.76"
2.87 inches x 4.88 inches card
2.87" x 4.88"
3.15 inches x 5.31 inches card
3.15" x 5.31"
3.50 inches x 5.00 inches card
3.50" x 5.00"
3.74 inches x 5.31 inches card
3.74" x 5.31"
4.13 inches x 5.83 inches card
4.13" x 5.83"

Using our standard pre-made molds is the most cost-effective method. But if you need a custom size, that's no problem. It just means that we'll need to prepare a special mold for you and for that service, we'll need to charge you a small added fee. We can make cards of any thickness you need and, for example, with children's cards which need to be a bit more robust, we can glue two sheets together.

Card Deck Packaging Solutions

We offer a variety of packaging solutions for your card decks. Because most decks need to be collated in a specific order, we'll handle that first and then load them into a traditional tuck-end box, a telescope rigid box (with a separate lid), or a magnetic closure rigid box (with a hinged lid and magnetic fastening). If your cards don't need their own box—say, they're part of a board game—we can shrink-wrap them to fit inside your game box or secure them in a custom insert made of cardboard, molded PVC, or foam.

FAQs

How to prepare files for die-cut card printing?

It's important that you prepare your files correctly to make sure that your cards come out looking great. Here, we share a few important tips.

  • Export your files in PDF format for printing
  • Make sure that you change the color space from RGB to CMYK before you export
  • Export images as vectors whenever possible
  • If you can't use vectors — if you're exporting bitmaps from Photoshop, for example — then make sure that you set the image resolution to at least 300 dpi
  • If you have a design with colors or images which extend all the way to the edge of the finished sticker, remember to add a 3 mm “bleed zone” to allow for die-cutting
  • If you're not exporting your artwork as vectors, you must separate the die-cutting design and the printable artwork into two layers

If you're working with a professional designer to create your files, they should understand what's needed to make everything “print ready”. But if you're working with design software yourself for the first time, these are the vital tips to remember before you submit your files. Still, our team of experts will always manually check all your files before we go to press. If we find any issues, we'll let you know and help you resolve them.

Can I order a sample deck before mass production?

Yes, you can order a sample deck before mass production! We offer various proofing options to help you review the design, colors, paper type, and print quality of the final product.

If you're unsure about our paper types, finishes, or want to see examples of past projects, you can also request a paper sample pack for reference. This ensures you're fully confident before moving forward with your order!

How long does it take to print and ship custom card decks?

The production timeline typically ranges from  2-3 weeks, depending on the complexity of your order. Shipping times vary by location, but we provide estimated delivery dates upon order confirmation.

What file format should I use for custom card designs?

We accept high-resolution PDF files with a minimum of 300 DPI in CMYK color mode and  3-mm bleed. Be sure to include bleed and crop marks for accurate printing.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide, including to the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and more. We offer various shipping options, including combined sea and air freight, to suit your budget and timeline.
